This painting is all about the nightlife in Perth. You can see the city lights and headlights of cars as people move around the city. That’s why Northbridge is in the foreground because it has such vibrancy.
I used to live just off to the right in West Perth and would walk to the city at night. It was a thrill for me because the movement and rhythm of car headlights would be illuminating the streets. To an artist like me, these waves of light are really something.
