Mosman Bay Paintings
Here is where the Swan River takes your breath away.
Some days it will be white tips and racing yachts.
Other times it will be the pink glow of sunset on the water.
In all lights and all weather, Mosman Bay is spectacular.
Capture the memories of twilight sails and long lunches.
These original artworks of Mosman Bay by Ken Rasmussen are a celebration.
A celebration through art of the best of days in the best of places.

In this painting you can see Nedlands and the University of WA, and in the background Perth city. Claremont is over on the left, and you can see Keanes Point and Peppermint Grove Beach. I painted this during a time when I had obsession with pale paintings. I had intended to strip the colour right back, and I even started to do that. At that point, I stopped myself. This colour is enjoyable and spontaneous and fun, why should I take it away? The painting was just so nice that I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I just wanted it to stay bright and colourful. It reflects my affection for these places and the colours of the water and sky.

For me, this was an exciting discovery piece. It is about the late afternoon with the sea breeze and the setting sun. It’s between, say 5:00 and 8:00 during the summer twilight. This is a wonderful view to paint, it is one of my favourites.
