Sydney Harbour Paintings
Sydney is a show stopper, a glitzy performer with abundance and majesty. Glorious vistas of blue and green stretch from the Harbour Bridge and Opera House right out to the Sydney Heads.
Sydney is a town to fall head over heels in love with. She stole your heart. Live with it.

This is my Sydney sunrise. You are looking down over Barangaroo, the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. You can see out across the confetti of sailboats on the water, across to Sydney’s beautiful beaches. This is early in the morning when Sydney is just springing to life. The air is crisp. Optimism and potential sweep in with the breeze across the water.

Sydney at night. Sparkle Town. The harbour is dazzling. The stars in the sky reflect down over the water. At night Sydney is all life and light. You can see the bridge and the Opera House and you can look out to Sydney Heads. You can see the towers of Barangaroo as well as Circular Quay and Luna Park. Here is a place to play and party.

In this place there are so many red terracotta roofs on blocks of flats. It’s a very warm afternoon view. Everything is side-lit, filled with light. The house in the centre with the tower is Brett Whiteley’s house. That’s the jetty for the ferry that he put in his paintings.

Sydney Harbour sits under the heat of hot Australian summer days with its own version of crisp and luminant cool. The harbour is Ultramarine Blue on these days, and it is a beautiful sight to behold.

I took the Manly Ferry one day and I was so surprised to see all the leafy areas jutting out into the harbour. I was thrilled to recognise the headlands that the early Australian Impressionists painted. It was like Streeton’s work come to life.
